Niary Gorjian, Ph.D.
TransitionToArmenia.com was founded by Niary Gorjian, Ph.D. and launched on April 20, 2008. Inspiration for the website comes from her lifelong dream, for all Diaspora Armenian’s to return to homeland Armenia, and from the experiences encountered during her second trip to Armenia, in 2007.
Niary Gorjian has held numerous active positions in Armenian organizations. During her undergraduate education at the University of California, Irvine, she served as the “social events coordinator” for the Armenian Students Association of the university. In 1997 she volunteered with the Land and Cultural Organization, by taking part in the renovation of the Datev village church, in Armenia. In 2007, she lived in Yerevan, Armenia, for a quarter of the year and held the position of Visiting Assistant Professor at the American University of Armenia, School of Business and Management. As a Professor, she provided instruction to first and second year MBA graduate students in the courses, Introduction to Organization and Management; Human Resource Management; and Organization Analysis and Change. Since 2005, she has been a member of the Armenian National Committee, Professional Network, in California.
Niary received her Ph.D. in Consulting Psychology from Alliant International University, Marshall Goldsmith School of Management, in 2006. Her prior educational accomplishments come from the University of California, Irvine, where she received her B.A. in Psychology, with a minor in Sociology.
Trained at the individual, group and organizational level, she offers Organizational Effectiveness consulting to organizations, specializing in employee trainings, team building, and workforce analytics. During her stay in Armenia in 2007, she provided consulting services to a group of employers, for the initiation and completion of a project funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development.
Along with her consulting experiences, Niary has multiple years of experience in classroom instruction and research. Her teaching experience dates back to her undergraduate years, when she began providing private tutoring in statistics and then moved on to being a teaching assistant and instructor in advanced statistics and research design, during her graduate education. She has taken part in and initiated multiple research projects and has been recognized by a division of the Academy of Management, for the innovative contribution offered by her dissertation research study. Additionally, Niary has presented her research at a number of annual conferences, such as the Gallup Leadership Institute Summit, in 2006.
