The Local Dating Scene
With the large influx of Iranian-Armenians, The social scene in Yerevan offers a truly cosmopolitan experience. Though allot of the local girls intermix with Diasporans, it seems their male counterparts tend to do so with allot less frequency. The local women have really made notable strides in keeping up with their diasporan counterparts in terms of makeup and fashion. However, they are still greatly limited by their working wages. There are also a growing number of Iranians (non Armenian) who have settled here and date Armenians.
Diversity or the "Big Mac" model
Armenians are as diverse culturally as they come. We definitely don't fit the "Big Mac" model which implies that you can count on a Big Mac tasting the same anywhere you go in the world. It has always been easier for me to date women within my own (American-Armenian) culture than those I have met in Armenia. Maybe a personal choice or perhaps due to a commonly held stereotype of those we date in Armenia as seeing us primarily as a green card out of country,
Cultural Diversity
In the first phase of the Nerkaght, there will be definitely cultural clashes/conflicts between the different groups.
However, this will change with the 2nd generation.
A living example is in Israel: the new comers lived together in different settlements (russian jews separate from european jews or middle eastern jews).
Even there was a big conflict between the local jews (who were closer to the Arabs as living style) and the Russian jews (who come from a totally different background).
The conflict is still there and it will remain in Armenia. But with time it will fade once everybody realizes that we share the history, culture and heritage and we all pursue the same goal of prosperous and glorious Armenia.
cultural Diversity
I agree that in some ways we can look at Israel to see how this may progress. It is interesting to add that there is visibly more interdating between Diasporans from different parts of world than between Diasporans and local Armenians. There also seems to be a bit of a competitive spirit between local and diasporan girls.
